Environments of Accountability in Goal Setting & Acheiving

One of my goals this year was to transform my relationship to physical exercise. I reviewed past successes and asked this one simple question: What is the pattern that runs consistently through all my successes? (You may want to do this too!)

The predictable answers came up including: clear picture of success, dedication, consistent action, alignment with my values, people around me that supported me, various resources, proper mindset and beliefs, etc.

The one theme that caught my attention was "spiritually oriented." I noticed that when I engage in goals that I define as spiritual, I am much more engaged and likely to succeed. I must add that "spiritually oriented" is defined by me.

So, I then asked myself how could I make exercise a spiritual process? I let that question resonate through me for a while. Here is where the story gets good.

One day, I was on a consulting assignment helping a health food restaurant build their recruitment and training systems. In walked a sales person for a magazine. Somehow I happened to sit down with her for a few minutes. She was there to see if the restaurant wanted to do some advertising. In the process she gave me about 5 past issues of their magazine "YogiTimes." I scoured through all 5 issues and was completely inspired.

The answer to my question walked right up to me an dropped in my lap. Don't you love when that happens? It is the Law of Attraction at work. Yoga is spiritually orientated exercise. Yahoo!

I knew I needed to create a powerful environment around me (see my past posts on The 9 Environments of You) to support me in making this change. So, I approached YogiTimes about creating a blog. Months later we are launching The YogiTimes Blog. Please click on the link, sign up to stay posted and participate by writing comments on posts that interest you.

I can't give up on my Yoga practice now that I am so intimately involved with the YogiTimes Blog! For those that are interested, I have been consistently doing yoga nearly every day this year! I started small...microscopically small with one yoga pose a day. I used the Happy Healthy Wealthy Game to hold me accountable and the YogiTimes Blog. See how The 9 Environments of You work.

Namaste,
Doug Miller
